Live Blogging from T-Storch Session

I've talked about Terry Storch before www.terrystorch.com . I am sitting in this session in awe once again at  his forward thinking with relationship to sharing Christ through technology.

Terry was on staff at Fellowship Church in Dallas, which is known as one of the most creative churches in the country and now is working at LifeChurch.TV  . He is continually innovating: He was one of the people who helped birth Fellowship Technologies while at Fellowship Church.

Listen to a couple of these:
Of course there are the traditional (at least today) technologies for extending the reach. Podcasting, video podcasts, streaming content, blogging. Internet Campuses.

  • Now Gaming devices like Playstation, xbox, Windows Vista, media Center PC -
  • Personalized streaming content - Say your childrens church director wants to get the word out to new visitors to kids church. Why not film it, garner information from the new child checkin from your database and automatically send a custom email with video embedded in it welcoming them to the church, telling them what is coming up, etc.
  • Emerging iPTV Content - Internet based tv where they can record all of the experiences like TIVO for a church or churches and view all content .. Just amazing. You could do the same thing with online education, leadership training and more.

Emmersive environments - new web technologies that  put people into a 3d world. Check out silverlight, javafx, interactive 3d modeling.

Check this out - SecondLife - an interactive 3d MySpace kind of thing. It's a  pretty crazy place with a lot of bad stuff, but check this out. They build a virtual 3d world (Church) inside of secondlife where people can literally walk into a campus that looks just like their real campus. They can chat with others and they offer online real streaming services. Wow.. Wow. Wow.. Incredible. and guess what, they are really reaching people and seeing people come to life in this virtual world. Shared a story of a Guy who saw an online add in a online gaming casino inside of second life, he was teleported to the life church campus and gave his life to Christ. the online campus pastor is now working with the person and they are growing in their relationship with Christ. They even have virtual greeters that are avatars in the system who have real people behind them. They treat this like a real campus. No difference at all even though it is virtual. They have a life groups pastor with 45 groups meeting at internet based life group campuses. Some are totally virtual, others actually meet virtually. It may have cost them $10,000, 16acres, 45,000 square feet of totally virtual space.

1.1 billion people online, how are we going to reach them?  We are required to do our part.. Wow.

to bring it back to Journey - Lord would you give us the people, the processes, the resources, and the GOD ideas to reach people for Jesus in every way possible through technology, through live experiences, God would you do it for us..

Content Delivery -  still not there yet.  There is staffing and other challenges.
